Oh snap what a wedding

Our Wedding is not what I will or let say "we" will call our dream wedding, it has come with a lot of drama but I'm not going to get into that right now a year has passed and i bet I can't rewrite the story correctly. I call this blog westernized African wife for two reasons; 1. I have noticed how a lot of us out here in the west are having hard time combining our background (mama and baba) kind of marriage with the environment we are in or raised in (jane and john) kind of marriage. 2. My husband is not exactly the person everyone will assume that I marry (nope he's not Hausa and he's not from Nigeria).

The wedding is what africans called 'jallof rice'. Yup I felt like I can do it all, I can please everyone. I wanted mama to have her yini I wanted kaka to have her kunshi I wanted in laws to have their party and I guess as for me I wanted hubby to have his wife. wait I will asked him ultimately on that day what was he thinking (brb)

The good thing about loving all things paper is that I did all my wedding paper products. I loved Adobe Illustator so I put myself to work, especially since I have done couple of work for other people.

I did our std's (I know what you're thinking) well it's not, it is suppose to be Save the Date, invites and the program.



You know what I noticed now that a year has gone by? when we are planning a wedding there's so much to do that you put all your energy, time and money into it. Sometimes I believe we need to step back and take a deep breath, chill, a vacay, or whatever you need to do to relax. I can say for myself I kept saying I can't wait for the wedding to be over, but after it was all said and done I became bored, why? well because for a period of time I designed my life around this one party and now I have to sit down and see what shananigan can I get myself into.

we had a two days wedding and we had a ball, seriously, it was fun. One thing I did like about the wedding was that it was a PAAAARRRTY! and that is exactly what I wanted to have and I got it at the end. Yay! me

My husband dealt with the DJ well let just say he supposed to take care of that, but I made one request to him I want DJ Boy Wonder. If you were at the reception you will see why and I know that's why I still called the wedding reception a wedding party. I have a video but I have to find it. may be I will have a different library with videos.
